Turnkey websites that make money, do so after a bit of work. You can purchase a turnkey website, but unless you build traffic to it, it definitely won’t make money. Unless of course you are buying a website which already makes money. If you’re doing this, be prepared to pay a lot! If you’re willing to put some effort in and learn how to market a turnkey website, take a look at the video below (click image):
Turnkey Websites That Make Money
As you can see in this video, it’s fairly easy to use software to build a ready made website, which already has a sales funnel and digital products for you to sell. This is a major benefit for turnkey websites that make money. Before rushing in and buying a website, it’s a good idea to learn a little about how it generates income, and how it generates traffic. These two concepts will make or break your online business.
How Does Your Website Make Money?
A number of “push and play” affiliate websites offer to give you an up and running website. But what does this really mean? For the one above, you’ll also get access to a ready made sales funnel with the program. This has a number of benefits including a range of digital products from which you can earn commissions on. Digital products are a good bet with an online business for a number of reasons:
- They can be sold globally and accessed from anywhere from the internet
- This makes your business model globally scalable
- Digital products are cheap to send (no delivery costs)
- They are cheap to manufacture and have virtually no storage costs
- This saving can be passed on to the affiliate marketer who promotes them – with many digital products paying out 40%+ commissions to their affiliates.
- There’s no products to hold and you don’t have to personally sell them
Business Models – Turnkey Websites That Make Money
The business model behind your website is an important consideration. Look closely at it before you decide to buy because it can make or break your online business. For example, many affiliate turnkey websites which profess to make you money offer physical products. You should know that although physical products do sell well over the internet, especially with trusted websites such as Amazon, you’ll earn far lower commissions on your sales than with digital products.
Check out the chart below which shows affiliate commissions in the UK for Amazon products.
As you can see, commissions are much lower than with digital products which offer 40%+ commissions on their products. It’s also worth choosing the right digital products for continual commissions, up-sells and back end sales etc. Not all turnkey websites that make money will offer these kind of commissions. Many will be set up to deliver physical products for low commissions. Plus, when you send your precious website traffic to a physical product, typically, you’ll make one commission on your sales.
Cookie Period
Amazon do offer a “cookie” period of 24 hours which means that your customer can come back and add more to their cart. If this happens in a 24 hour period, you’ll still get the commissions for any subsequent additions to their purchases. Check out their policy here. If your referred customer puts something in their shopping cart, there’s also a 90 day cookie which credits you for that item. Providing the customer purchases the item within this time, you still receive the commission.
This can make a huge difference if, for example, your customer referral is doing their Christmas shopping when they happen to use your affiliate link!
Turnkey Websites That Don’t Make Money
So there’s plenty of ‘turnkey’ websites which don’t make money for a number of reasons:
- Low rate of commissions
- Not enough Traffic
- Too few leads
- Not enough or any sales!
Low Rate Of Commission
A low commission means you’re going need to generate traffic through free methods alone. This can be very difficult, especially if you’re a complete novice. Blogging, content creation and back linking is a seriously time consuming pursuit. It’s only really going to work if you continue for the long term. This isn’t everyone’s idea of paradise. Despite the long term promise of passive income, if your site is successful, most affiliate marketers will quit in the first year.
No Traffic
Having to use free method generation means you’re going to have to roll your sleeves up. It takes time and consistent hard work to create enough content on your site to generate free traffic. If you don’t get enough traffic, or if you get the wrong kind of traffic, you’ll struggle to make any sales. What’s the wrong kind of traffic? Not all website traffic is equal. You want targeted ‘buyer’ traffic to your site. This is why many affiliates build review websites.
People read reviews about products just before they go and make a purchase. They just want a little confirmation about a product, so they can buy with more confidence. That’s what a review site can give them. From your review site you can link to affiliate products and send very targeted traffic to your recommended products.
Random traffic is different. Most people use the internet as an information gathering tool. It’s free to use the internet and not everyone on it has their wallet out ready to make a purchase! Before creating content, think about the search intent of the person looking for your main keywords. I talk more about content generation in my ebook Niche Blogging For Profit.
No Leads
Most turnkey websites that make money use a lead generating tool. They collect subscribers information (their emails), so they can keep in touch, offer value and recommend products and services to their list of subscribers. As their list grows, so does their online business. Not getting leads can be down to a few reasons:
- No opt in option on your website
- Not getting enough traffic
- The wrong kind of traffic
- Hidden opt-in placement
- Incongruent giveaway offer – a bad match for your visitors
- Etc.
Getting your website visitors to opt-in to your email list is an important part of making money from a website. It lets you build a relationship with your subscribers and build trust. If someone lands on your website they only have a small window of opportunity to purchase something. If you get them to opt in, that “window” is greatly extended to months, years and even decades.
No Sales – Turnkey Websites That (Don’t) Make Money
You can have a website which generates traffic but doesn’t generate sales. That can be for a number of reasons:
- Not enough traffic
- The wrong kind of traffic
- Bad products
- Products don’t match your audience.
- Poor call to action on your website
- Etc.
Your audience needs to be a good match for you product range too. Unless you can show the value in your products, what makes someone want to purchase them?
Turnkey Websites That Make Money – High Ticket Products
High ticket products offer a higher than normal commission rate. Although this may mean you have fewer purchases, compared to perhaps lower valued physical products on Amazon, for example, it also has some added advantages:
- You can use paid advertising and more easily recoup costs
- You can scale up more easily and quickly
- Sales reward you more for what is ofter a similar amount of work.
High ticket items which offer 40% commissions also let you scale up into the higher income brackets more easily than now priced products which force you to use free advertising methods.
Subscription Products – Turnkey Websites That Make Money
Subscription products also offer a much better way to monetize your website. With subscriptions you can earn again and again by referring a single customer. Subscription products might be things like:
- Hosting
- Email responder software
- Membership sites
- Other software products
Up Sells – Products Sold Later To Existing Customers
When you make a sale from a turnkey website which offers products from Amazon, for example, you only make a single sale, in most cases. The customer then knows Amazon, they don’t know you! Amazon picks up a customer for life, you only get paid once! With up-sells, you get the credit for the first point of contact with the customer and then also receive commissions there after for everything that customer purchases later on.
Up-sells work! Look at McDonald’s and Burger King. At each point of sale, the customer is given an option to purchase again. “Do you want fries with that?”, “Do you want to go large?” etc.
Up sells work with an online business too, so make sure you use a company which rewards you for up sells.Â
Multi-Tier Sales – Turnkey Websites That Make Money
Multi-tier sales are another way to earn with an online business. what this means is that you don’t just get paid for a referral. If your referral builds a business, you also earn from their sales. The amount you can earn from multi-tier sales depends on your positioning in a business model. Learn more about multi-tier sales.Â
