How To Train Your Subconscious Mind For Success

Wondering how to train your subconscious mind for success? You are talking to your subconscious mind continually; giving it instructions on how you want things to transpire. Your subconscious mind is listening to everything you think and say; and helping you to generate the results in your life.

The subconscious mind is very powerful and can override many of your deepest held desires, if you’re not accepting of realising them in some way. It can also deliver your deepest dreams and desires too, if you give your dreams power and ‘water’ them constantly with like minded thoughts.

For example, you might say you want something in your life, but then squash the idea by doubting your ability to attain it. Your subconscious hears this, and delivers something which you will believe instead. So become more aware of your countering thoughts – those which take you further from your dreams. And pursue those which encourage you and energise you towards your dreams instead.

“Man may become the master of himself, and of his environment, because he has the power to influence his own subconscious mind” – Napoleon Hill Think and Grow Rich

How To Train Your Subconscious Mind For Success

Becoming aware of the thoughts which you ‘feed’ your subconscious mind with, is a good first step in training the subconscious mind. Many of our thoughts are fleeting, and don’t even get noticed. Our most commonly practiced thoughts become our physical reality and our words reflect our inner beliefs. So watching your speech, too, is a good practice to notice what you are ‘feeding’ your mind on! What do you feed your mind on in terms of conversation, books, films, television and the company you keep?

“Birds of a feather flock together”. Like minded thinkers tend to group together. You’ve probably heard the adage that says that your income is the average of your 10 closest friends. If you really want success, you’ll need to spend more time with people who are more successful than you.

What Does Success Mean To You?

how to train your subconscious mind for success

Success can be defined in many ways. What does success mean to you? Money, status, power? Or, does it mean being surrounded by people who love you? In each area of your life, define exactly what success means to you in terms of:

  • Income
  • Household
  • Career
  • People
  • Family & Friends
  • Lifestyle
  • Fitness
  • Partner
  • Spirituality/religion
  • Motivation
  • Focus and goals
  • Happiness and joy
  • Purpose
  • Fulfilment

Many people define success only in terms of money to the detriment of everything else in life. So when you are training your mind for success, as we shall come to later in this article, it’s important to include an ‘insurance policy’ and think of other areas of your life too. Otherwise, you may pursue money to the detriment of the people around you, and end up lonely, bitter and twisted!

How To Train Your Subconscious Mind For Success

Stuart Lichtman’s “How To Get Lots Of Money For Anything Fast” is the best book I have found on this topic. There’s lots of information on training the subconscious mind, but none like Stuart’s. He has developed what he calls the cybernetic transposition technique. This is a strategy for transferring an experience you have actually had in life, for a more desirable one, and then creating what Stuart calls a ‘meta-story’ to train your subconscious mind with. A meta story, is a very specific and focused story which you want to make happen and which is based on something which has already happened.

Developing your meta story is one of the main objectives in Stuart Lichtman’s basic three step process. Most of us already carry a “story” which we regularly repeat to ourselves and others. This is our ‘story’ of ourselves. Mostly though we are telling a story which is unconscious. That is, we are not aware that we are creating by virtue of the story we perpetually tell ourselves. Our story might explain why we are who we are, what happened to us and how we came to be in our current circumstances. It might also contain many excuses and negative ideas which we may use as reasons why we haven’t got to where we really want to be in life.

A meta-story is a new story to tell yourself which meets all your needs, has an ‘insurance policy’ written into it, and which is clear and precise.

“Repetition of affirmation of orders to your subconscious mind is the only known method of voluntary development of the emotion of faith.” – Napoleon Hill, Think and Grow Rich.

How To Train Your Subconscious Mind For Success – The Problem With Goals

The problem with goals is that there are competing parts of your mind stopping you from attaining them. For example, you want to get fitter so you join a gym. At first you start out with great intentions.

After a while you get bored and fall back to your old habits. You want to get fit, but this desire is counteracted by your other desires: to enjoy time with friends, have a drink (or three) and eat whatever you like. Pretty soon, the old ‘you’ is in charge again and you’ve even given up your gym membership.

Align All Parts Of your Mind

Unless you can align all parts of your mind to work together, you’ll ultimately come back to this problem every time. Perhaps, too, getting fit isn’t so important to you after all. Spending time with your friends might “trump” your fitness goals. This is because you’re the type of person who likes being social. How do you know this? Because your self image tells you. Self image is really more important than discipline. It’s like the ‘trump’ card in a deck. Self image will ‘trump’ discipline because it runs continuously in the background of your mind.

Your self image is what you tell yourself repeatedly over and over. It’s your ‘story’ if you like. If you tell yourself negative things, you’ll produce a negative outcome. Tell yourself positive things and you’ll attract circumstances which align with those beliefs. Checkout Psycho-cybernetics by Maxwell Maltz.

So, getting into your subconscious mind with a new meta-story, is the best way to change things in your life. This is how to train your subconscious mind.

Creating A Meta-Story To Train Your Subconscious Mind

Creating a meta-story which you want, is one of the most important parts of training your subconscious mind. You’re already training your subconscious mind, but you’re doing it by default. Your life right now is the result of your previous thoughts, words and deeds. To get into your subconscious programming and change things for the better, you need to get clear on what it is you really want. This is the work of creating a meta story. At the moment, you probably have a bunch of desires all competing for attention. Your life, right now, is the result of what your subconscious mind has delivered in the way of what it thinks is right for you. What you’re going to learn is subconscious reprogramming.

You can’t decide to get fit in one moment, while simultaneously wanting to slob around all day, eat what you like and have no discipline. So if you want both, your subconscious will deliver results based on what you do, but also based on what you believe. In most cases it will be somewhere in between. But what if you could focus your mind on something very specific, in order to create some amazing outcomes. This is the work of creating your own meta-story. Checkout Stuart Lichtman’s book here to get started.

How To Train Your Subconscious Mind For Success – Your Subconscious

Mantras are a useful tool which can help you retrain your unconscious mind. Like meta stories, they can talk directly to your subconscious mind. We all offer out mantras already to our subconscious minds. However, we mostly do this on autopilot, following old programming which doesn’t serve us. Most likely it’s old programming which we have unconsciously learned from our parents.

For me, it was things like:

“Life is a struggle”

“I’ll never have enough”

“Everything is difficult”

“Making money is hard”

“I’m not good enough”

It took a lot of work to change these stories I used to tell myself into more positive ones which would empower me, rather than enslave me. But it’s still work in progress. Discovering these limiting ideas exist in your head is an enlightening experience. You can watch your mind in quiet contemplation or meditation.

You will notice many self defeating thoughts. These are old beliefs and stories which you have been programmed to believe. As you re-live life’s experiences, you will notice yourself telling a story of some kind. If you’re re-living uncomfortable experiences, these could be the key to your changing your subconscious ideas about yourself.

Some of your ideas about yourself will be subtle. Just watch and listen. How do you feel in a group of people? How do you treat yourself when you’re alone? What’s the first thing you say about yourself when you meet someone new? What does this tell you? How do you want to come across to someone you like?

How To Train Your Subconscious Mind For Success – Using Money Mantras

One of my favourite mantras for financial success is this one shared in the video below by Bob Proctor. See also money mantra to become rich and affirmations, mantras and positive intention. The mantra in the video is this:

“I am so happy and grateful now that, money comes to me, in increasing amounts, through multiple sources, on a continual basis.”

As you repeat this mantra, you will likely find some conscious objections come up. Don’t worry. These are your powerful unconscious beliefs which are being challenged. Just keep going and repeat this mantra daily. The things you say to yourself eventually reach your subconscious mind if you repeat them for long enough.

They are then taken as gospel by your unconscious mind which begins to search for ideas and means to make them become a reality. If you discount these ideas too soon, and stop; your old beliefs have won! You’ll continue to perpetuate these old beliefs with your actions, thoughts and deeds. Remember the title of this article “How to train your subconscious mind for success”.

Whatever you consider your life to be at this point in time, is the result of your previous thinking processes. This means there will be a considerable resistance to new ideas which you are presenting to your subconscious mind.

How To Train Your Subconscious Mind For Success – The Mind Of A Child

Consider the mind of a child for a moment. As they grow up, they are presented with many new ideas and beliefs about the world. Despite their protesting, they will pick up many of their beliefs and ideas of the world from their parents. This is because as a child, you have no unconscious reasoning process.

Ideas and concepts are absorbed straight into the subconscious mind. As you grow older, you get more discerning about what you choose to believe. You can resist ideas with your conscious mind. However, the ideas and concepts which were absorbed before you were even 10 years old are very strong. They are powerful pieces of your idea of the world and about yourself. Some of these ideas will help you and some won’t. The main pieces of your view of the world which hold you back in life are the hardest ones to replace.

Reprogramming Your Subconscious

This takes time and constant repetition because, you will have been programmed over many years to think in the way you already do.

In what areas of life do you struggle the most? If it’s money, you may have some bad programming in terms of what you believe about money, self worth and wealth. Is wealth bad? Is money evil? Here are some common limiting beliefs about money which can stop its flow into your life:

  • Money is the route of all evil
  • Rich people are greedy
  • Money doesn’t matter/isn’t important
  • Money makes people greedy
  • You can’t take it with you / it’s there to be spent
  • I’m no good with money
  • Money is limited
  • Money only comes from money
  • You have to trade your happiness for wealth
  • It’s selfish to want money
  • You must be ______ to have money

Now consider your own mindset towards money. Is it positive, or do you hold some negative beliefs about having, spending and allowing money into your life?

How Do You Make Money?

“If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always had”

How you see yourself and how you make money are intricately linked too. If you’re wanting more success in life, you have to change. You simply can’t remain the same and expect different results. Training your mind for success is one thing. Without action, you can’t expect things to change much.

You much act too, when you know what to do. Your beliefs about what you’re capable of also factor into this. Consider whether you think it’s possible to be making money in a completely different way within the next 5 years of your life. Does this sound/feel/look possible to you?

If you’re wondering how to train your subconscious mind for success, consider how you have taught your mind previously to do anything you are already capable of; the things you take for granted like talking in your own language, dressing yourself and making food, for example. You have the ability to learn new things in life at any time.

Having trained your subconscious mind for success you will need a strategy to create success. If you don’t already have a means to create more success in life, consider learning some new skills and building an online business from scratch. An online business can allow anyone to automate the sale of other people’s products over the internet. Already today, people are making their livings entirely on the internet. You can do the same.
